ABOUT US

The Burin Peninsula Arts Council was established in 1973, the same year the Burin Highway was paved, thus ending some of the isolation of many of the region's communities. It saw the beginning of bringing Community Circuit Shows to our region, and the building of a strong relationship with the St.John's Arts & Culture Centre. BPAC members and its many volunteers are from various parts of the peninsula.

BPAC provides experiences for both resident and out of province visitors that vary according to season. Some events are one time only, whereas others are annual. BPAC consistently offers:

-Community Circuit Shows hosted in various venues including more isolated towns
-Annual Art Exhibits by local artists
-Annual Craft Fairs with Workshops, Demonstrations and local Musicians
-Annual Scholarships in Music, Visual & Theatre Arts (peninsula students)
-Artist in the School Program for schools who do not have art teachers
-Workshops in disciplines of the Arts
-Financial assistance for regional and provincial student Drama and Music Festivals
-Official Sponsor of Festival of Folk Song & Dance
-Gold Sponsor of Grand Bank Theatre Festival

The Burin Peninsula Arts Council partners with Burin Peninsula Folk Arts Council, the Heritage Run Tourism Association, the St. John's Arts & Culture Centre and Atlantic Presenters Association.
